Greece 2nd & Italy 1st in the AEF Nations Cup 2024!

With the people celebrating by applauding the Greek Team, the Athens Equestrian Festival 2024 ended last night, at the Olympic Equestrian Center in Markopoulo.

The Greek team tried hard and finally took the 2nd place, just like last year, in the Longines EEF Series Team Competition of the Nations Cup with its athletes, Kaite Laskaridis with Catoki's Cornet, Angelos Touloupis with Del Rey of the Lowlands Z, Ilias Baliousis with Casper D'Argouges and Kriton Zafiropoulos with Dicaprio collecting 8 penalty points in the two rounds and taking the 2nd place. In the 2nd round, the Greek Team achieved 0 points.

In 1st place was Italy with its athletes Roberto Turchetto with Heidelberg, Filippo Bassan with Ceruti de Kreisker, Antonio Maria Garofalo with Abelle degli Assi and Bruno Chimirri with Samara collecting in both rounds the fewest points, 4. In 3rd place was the Romanian team with also 8 penalty points. Italy, Greece and Ukraine qualified for the Longines EEF Series semi-final in July in Budapest.

"2nd place again this year, just like last year. We are getting closer and closer to the gold medal. Today all our horses jumped incredibly, we had a bit of bad luck in the 1st round, but we have to be very happy. Now the next goal for our national team is the semi-final in Budapest in July!" said Angelos Touloupis after the match.

The Athens Equestrian Festival was honored, with their presence, by awarding the prizes of the competitions, Mr. Giorgos Mavrotas, General Secretary of Sports, Ms. Vasiliki Kavalari, Vice Regional Governor of Eastern Attica, Ms. Vasiliki Millousi, Deputy Regional Governor of Sports & Olympic Ideal, Mr. Vassilis Oikonomou, Member of Parliament for ND, Mr. Kostas Allayiannis, Mayor of Markopoulo and Mr. Alan Andabaka, member of the Board of the European Equestrian Federation.

In yesterday's CSI1* 1.35m Grand Prix competition. the winner was the Swede Erik Nordstrom with Kelly Tjes F, while in 2nd place for Greece was Panagiotis Tsaktiris with Vuyton de Fraka and in 3rd place was the Romanian Constantin Popescu with Hero.

In the 1.20m height children's Grand Prix. the winner was Dimitra Chatzara with Szilaj, followed by Stefani Georgiou with Cola Light in 2nd place for Cyprus and Argyro Papageorgiou with Hibiza des Sablons in 3rd place.
