BEC Endurance 2024

Successfully in Kilkis!

The Balkan Endurance Championship 2024, the international and national competitions, ended on Sunday, 7th October afternoon successfully at the Kilkis Equestrian Club, Kilkis Greece.

This was the most successful Balkan Championship in the history of the institution, that took place for the second time in Greece and Kilkis! Five Balkan countries participated with 24 riders and horses.

In the Team Competition of the Balkan Championship, the Greek team with Katerina Malliaki & Dias, Viktoria Schina & Colorado Dream, Theodoros Landavos & Nadide and Gianna Mitona & Aphroditi took the 4th place. A total of five teams participated, while the Balkan Champion was the Turkish Team for the first time.

In the Individual Competition, two Turkish athletes won the first two medals. Golden Balkan Champion was Sakir Tarik Cakir on Camuz Devrani and in 2nd place Omer Faruk Ozer with Cabrican. The two athletes from Turkye completed the 102 kilometers respectively in times of 5:07:42 and 5:07:57. The bronze medal went to the Bulgarian Denis Furlanski on Pavel, whose horse also won the important prize of "best condition".

On the Greek side, Katerina Malliaki on Dias, who completed her course in 5:41:53, was the best and in 6th place. The amazon from Corfu immediately after the competition declared that she was very pleased with her horse and her performance.

Greek success in the Balkan Cup for Juniors and Young Riders, which was held for the first time. Marianna Roussi and M Aggeo won the gold medal completing their 102 km course in 5:41:53.

In the international competitions, held on Sunday 6/10, in the CEI2* winner was the Bulgarian Nikolay Nikolov with Edelvays who completed the 122 km in a time of 8:50:14.

In CEI1* the silver medal was won for Greece by Alexandros Alafragkis with Zafer completing the 102 km in 8:17:09, while the gold medal was won by Nadia Vladimirova with Emos from Bulgaria in 7:13:47 .

The BEC Endurance 2024 was honored with their presence of the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Polyani and Kilkisiou Mr. Vartholomeos and the Mayor of Kilkis, Mr. Dimitris Kyriakidis, who declares the start of the BEC during the opening ceremony of on Friday, October 4.

The Vice-President of the European Equestrian Federation and General Secretary of the HEF, Mr. George Dimaras handed over the Balkan flag to the Croatians (the Gj President Mr. Smiljka SELANEC), who will organize the next Balkan Championship in their country in 2025.
