Bronze medal for the Greek team at the Longines EEF Series Greece NC !

With the crowd applauding the Greek Team, the Longines EEF Series Greece CSIO3*-W, which was hosted for the first time in Northern Greece, was completed with absolute organizational and competitive success yesterday afternoon in Thessaloniki and the Ippos Club.

In the Longines EEF Series Nations Cup, which concluded the competition schedule, the Greek Team consisting of Angelos Touloupis with Del Rey Of the Lowlands Z, Anna Papageorgiou with Janning, Ilias Baliousis with Casper d’Argouges and Dimitris Natsis with Corrie Z, managed to win the bronze medal by beating the Turkish team in time, which had the same penalty points after the two rounds. The big winner was the Italian Team and in 2nd place was the German Team.

Satisfied with the team’s performance, the team chef and new technical advisor of HEF, German Lars Meyer Zu Bexten, stated “I am very satisfied with all four athletes and their horses. It was a very nice feeling to win the bronze medal in front of your home crowd. It was a new team, participating for the first time in a Nations Cup. The next goal for this year is the Balkan Championship in September in Serbia, for which we will work hard”.

Prizes in the Nations Cup were awarded by the Minister of Macedonia and Thraki, Mr. Konstantinos Gkoulekas and the Brand Manager of Longines Greece, Ms. Dimitra Morissaiou, together with Mr. George Dimaras, Vice President of the European Equestrian Federation and Mr. Alan Andabaka, member of the Board of Directors of the EEF. The competitions were also honored with their presence by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Mr. Stelios Angeloudis, the Mayor of Pylaia and Chortiatis, Mr. Ignatios Kaitetzidis. who also awarded the prizes in other competitions.

Friday, the second day of the event, was preceded by the amazing performance of Angelos Touloupis with his horse Lord Mexx in the Grand Prix competition at a height of 1.55m, sponsored by METLEN.

The Greek athlete had a double clear rounds in the jump-off, where he participated with six other athletes and with a time of 52.79 he won the silver medal, just like last year. With this performance, Angelos and his horse qualified for the World Jumping Championships to be held in Aachen, Germany in 2026. “I am very happy for the 2nd place I took this year in the Grand Prix, just like last year. I think I could not have done better. My horse was fantastic, he did everything for me. I am very proud for the qualification at the World Championships,” Angelos said immediately afterwards.

Big winner was the Austrian Josef Schwarz Jr with Lor JDV with 0 points and a time of 51.34 and in 3rd place was the Italian Roberto Turchetto with Don Blu with 0 points and a time of 54.5.

The Grand Prix was awarded by the top Greek jumping athlete who also took part in Paris 2024, Ioli Mytilineou, who visited Thessaloniki especially for the event, Hannah Mytilineou's mother, a former Greek jumping champion who participated in Athens 2004, the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr. Isidoros Kouvelos, the President of the Hellenic Equestrian Federation, Mr. Costas Karakasilis, the Event Director, Mr. Nikos Siafaras, the foreign judge Mr. Kari Jalasola and the President of the GJ, Mr. Karoly Fugli.

In a total of 21 events of the four-day event, Greece won another 7 gold medals thanks to its athletes Angelos Touloupis with Domino Z in the young horse category and in the 1.45m qualifier event No 3 with Lord Mexx,  Yiannis Skandalis with Hilada in event No 6 1.40m,  Stavros Georgopoulos with Queen Capitol in event No 8 1.20m, Anna Danali with Stakonja PS in event No 13 1.35m, Lefteris Basdeli with K Eloise in class No 18 1.10m, and Antonis Giatzoglou with Girly Day in event No 9 at 1.00m.
