Successful Completion of the Second International Endurance Event in Orchomenos

The second International Endurance Event, held at the ELIA STUD FARM equestrian facilities and organized by the Avlonas Equestrian Club, concluded successfully on Sunday, 21 June. An affiliated national qualifying competition was also held alongside the international event.

On the first day of competition, Saturday, 20 June, Greek rider Nikoleta Konstantinidou claimed victory in the CEIYJ2* Junior/Young Riders category aboard Osiris, completing the 120 km course in 8:30:41.

In Saturday’s premier CEI2* class, Dessislava Aleksieva of Bulgaria, riding Samodiva, secured first place after covering the 120 km distance in 7:47:30.

In the CEI1* category on the first day and the CEI2* category on the second day, Giota Chrysanthakopoulou achieved two victories with her horses Afet and Helena, recording times of 7:57:47 and 9:21:17 respectively.

In Saturday’s CEI1YJ* Junior/Young Riders class, Fotini-Artemis Houliara and Kalos took first place, completing the 100 km course in 6:48:12.

In Sunday’s CEIYJ2* Junior/Young Riders category, Emma-Despoina Giakoumaki riding Attilas emerged victorious with a total time of 9:23:05.

Meanwhile, the sole participant and winner of Sunday’s CEI1YJ* Junior/Young Riders class was Andreas Tsirounis aboard Akira, who completed the 100 km distance in 7:48:23.

 

Historic Moment for Endurance 

A historic milestone for Greek Endurance Riding was achieved during the National Qualifying Endurance Competition held on Sunday, 21 June, with the participation of the first athlete with a disability in the discipline, Mariana Xenaki.

The athlete of the Avlonas Equestrian Club (IPOA), who has complete vision loss, successfully competed for the first time in the 20 km event, accompanied and guided by her coach, Konstantinos Begklidis, while fully complying with all required safety regulations and procedures.

Mariana Xenaki is a psychologist, musician, and singer. She has been totally blind since the age of two and a half due to complications arising from leukemia treatment. She has been involved in music since the age of six and has performed at music venues and concerts in Greece and abroad.

Through her participation, she opens new horizons for Endurance, demonstrating that determination, perseverance, and a passion for sport know no boundaries.
